Homenet Africa sent a delegation of 3 representatives ( Jemima Nyakongo, HNKs Chairperson & HNI treasurer, Edwin Bett, Africa’s Regional Coordinator, both from Kenya and Thabile from South Africa) to Self Employed Womens Association ( SEWA) a single largest union of women workers in the informal economy working for the upliftment of homebased workers, for a learning exposure visit in Amedabad, India from 11th – 14th September 2023
With an objective of;
- learning more on constitution building
- learning organising models
- learning the financial systems
During the exposure visit the participants were privileged to visit:
- SEWA trade union offices
- SEWA community centre
- SEWA federation
- SEWA bank
- SEWA child care centre
- SEWA Academy
- SEWA insurance cooperative limited
And also interacted with HBWs in their homes,
